Housing guarantee

First-year students at Brandeis are guaranteed on-campus housing for their first four consecutive semesters. Midyear students are guaranteed on-campus housing for their first three consecutive semesters.

Residence Life

Brandeis residence halls bring you all the comforts of home.

Each hall in the North and Massell quads, where the majority of first-year students live, features:

Lounges to foster socialization, study-group opportunities and programming
A large community space with a big-screen TV and billiards and foosball tables
Kitchen facilities equipped with community refrigerator, stove/oven, microwave and counter space
Laundry facilities

Hungry? Take a short walk over to the Stein, Brandeis' on-campus pub, for a slice of pizza or a burger and sweet-potato fries.

Itching for a study break? Drop in to the famous Cholmondeley's Coffee House at the Castle — said to be the inspiration for the Central Perk on TV's "Friends" — for ice cream, coffee, conversation and student performances.

Dining Services

Brandeis serves up a world-class dining program, featuring great menu variety, the highest quality products and service in a relaxed setting. Our ever-changing menus will please even the most finicky eaters. Choose from among traditional American cuisine, ethnic delights, vegetarian and vegan dishes and a wide variety of nutritious options.

Inside the Shapiro Campus Center

Features freshly baked bagels, brewed coffee as well as pastries, snacks, signature sandwiches and salads.

Expressway
Basement, Usdan Student Center

Retail store featuring snacks, Java City coffee, sushi, fair trade items as well as an expanded selection of kosher items and freshly made sandwiches and salads.

Faculty Club
Wien Faculty Center

Offers a superb luncheon menu with a deluxe salad bar. Students are welcome.

Java City
Basement, Schneider Building

Features exceptional freshly brewed coffees, artisan pastries and soups and sandwiches.

Sherman Dining Hall
Basement, Hassenfeld Conference Center

Offers traditional all-you-care-to-eat dining, and features both Glatt kosher and nonkosher foods.

The Stein
Hassenfeld Conference Center

Features casual dining in a fun and cozy environment. Guests aged 21 or over may also enjoy bottled and draft beer.

Usdan Boulevard
Basement, Usdan Student Center

Visit Grille Works, Bene Pizza and Pasta, Montagues Deli or grab a popular smoothie or frappe at Liquid Lunch.

Usdan Cafe
Basement, Usdan Student Center

Home to stations such as Tortilla Fresca, Home Zone, Salad Garden and a Java City coffe bar, the café also features Balance, where healthy eating begins, and Nature's Balance, the station dedicated to vegetarian and vegan entrees and sides.
